Overview
Job Templates allow you to save the structure of a job and reuse it whenever you need to create similar work. This is especially useful for common job types that follow the same process each time.
By using templates, you can reduce admin time during job creation and ensure all the required information, tasks, and settings are included from the start.
Creating a Job Template
You can create a template from any active job.
Open the job you want to use as a template
Click Job Settings
Select Save as Template
In the Save Template window:
Enter a Template Name (this is prefilled from the job title).
Review or edit the Template Description (prefilled from the job description).
Choose which items should be included in the template by ticking or unticking them.
Click Save Template.
All selected items will now be saved and available for future jobs.
Applying a Job Template
Job templates can be applied when creating a new job.
Start creating a new job.
In the Template dropdown, search for or select the template you want to use.
Fergus will automatically apply the template settings and populate the job with the saved information.
Review the job details and make any changes if required.
Finish creating the job.
What happens when a template is selected?
The job type linked to the template will automatically be applied.
The job type selector will be locked, as templates are tied to specific job types.
The template card will show which elements are included in the template.
You can remove or change the template before finishing job creation.
If no templates have been created yet, the template selection option will not appear during job creation.
Managing Job Templates
All templates can be managed from Settings ⚙️ → Job Templates.
From this page you can view details such as:
Template name and description
Associated job type
Creation date
Last used date
Number of times the template has been used
From the options menu you can also:
Create a Job from a template
Edit the template name and description
Delete a template
Note: You can’t directly edit an existing Job Template.
If you need to change what’s included, update a job with the correct details and save it as a new template. The original template can then be deleted or renamed.
Using Job Templates in Fergus Go
In Fergus Go, Job Templates appear once at least one template exists.
Templates are:
Listed alphabetically
Searchable for quick access
Displayed with their job type, title, and description
To keep job creation fast on mobile, template contents cannot be modified in Fergus Go.
Using Job Templates with Work Orders
If you create a job by uploading a Work Order file, Fergus may automatically create the job if all fields are successfully read.
When this happens:
The job is created immediately
A template cannot be applied during creation
The job will default to a Charge Up Job
Conclusion
Job templates make it quicker and easier to create jobs in Fergus. By saving common job structures, you can reduce repetitive setup work and ensure every job starts with the right information.
