Tap to Pay lets you accept payments directly on your phone while on-site with customers. No need for separate card readers or waiting for bank transfers, your customers can simply tap their card, phone, or smart device on your phone to pay instantly.

Getting started

To use Tap to Pay, you'll need to enable two key settings on your Android device:

  • Location Services - Must be turned on

  • NFC (Near Field Communication) - Must be enabled

If these settings aren't enabled, you may see error messages prompting you to:

  • Turn on location services

  • Enable NFC in your device settings

To Enable these Settings:

  1. For Location Services:

    • Go to Settings > Location

    • Toggle Location on

  2. For NFC:

    • Go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > NFC

    • Toggle NFC on

Activating Tap to Pay on Your Fergus Go App

You will also need to activate tap to pay on your Fergus Go app. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open your Fergus Go app

  2. Go to the Menu tab located in the lower right corner

  3. Select Settings

  4. Click on Payments

  5. Toggle on Tap to Pay

Once both settings are enabled, you'll be able to use Tap to Pay for contactless transactions. Here is how it works:

Step 1: Open Your Job

  1. Launch the Fergus Go app on your phone

  2. Navigate to the job you've just completed

  1. Scroll down and tap Invoices

  2. Tap Quick Invoice (bottom-right corner)

  3. Fergus automatically includes existing job costs to save you time

  4. Add any final items or adjustments

  5. Tap Approve Invoice

Step 3: Take Payment

  1. Once approved, you'll see the Tap to Pay option.

  2. Select it, and Fergus connects to your phone's contactless reader.

  3. Your customer taps their card, phone, or smart device on your phone.

  4. Payment complete!
