Overview

Quote Options allow you to include selectable sections within a quote, giving your customer the flexibility to choose between different options before accepting.

This is ideal when a customer isn't sure exactly what they want, or when you'd like to offer upgrades or alternative solutions without creating multiple separate quotes.

When to Use Quote Options

Quote Options are useful when:

  • Offering "Good/Better/Best" solutions

  • Providing upgrade add-ons

  • Letting customers choose between materials or finishes

  • Presenting alternative approaches in one clear document

Instead of sending multiple quotes, everything can be included in a single interactive quote.

How to Create a Quote with Options

Quote Options are available in the web quote editor.

To set up a section:

  1. Open or create a quote

  2. Click the section control button in the section header

  3. Choose the section behaviour:

    • Fixed: Always included in the quote

    • Optional: The customer can toggle this section on or off

    • Multiple Choice: The customer must select one option from a group

For a Multiple Choice group of quote options, place the sections next to each other at the same level.

Previewing the Customer Experience

You can preview how the quote will look to your customer at any time.

Click Preview to open the quote portal in a new tab.

In preview, you can:

  • Toggle optional sections

  • Switch between multiple-choice options

  • See totals update in real time

The preview is view-only and cannot be accepted from draft mode.

How Pricing Works

Quote totals update dynamically based on the selected options.

  • Fixed sections are always included in the total

  • Optional sections are excluded unless selected

  • Only the selected option in a Multiple Choice group contributes to the total

In the editor, the displayed total reflects the default state (fixed items plus default multiple choice selections).

Customer Experience

When a customer opens a quote with options:

  • They can view the full scope and pricing at the same time

  • Optional sections can be toggled on or off

  • Multiple-choice options can be switched

  • The total updates instantly as selections are made

Accepting a Quote with Options

When a quote with options is accepted:

  • The selected options are locked in

  • A new finalised version of the quote is created

  • Unselected options are removed

  • The standard post-acceptance workflow continues (including deposits, if applicable)

This ensures your job card and invoice reflect exactly what was agreed.

Manual Acceptance

If you need to accept a quote on behalf of a customer:

  1. Open the quote

  2. Click the Preview (ensure the quote has been published first)

  3. Select the agreed options

  4. Accept the quote through the portal view

This ensures the correct options are captured before acceptance.

Using Quote Options in Fergus Go

In Fergus Go:

  • You can view sections marked as Optional or Multiple Choice

  • You can preview and interact with the quote just like a customer

  • Section behaviour settings can only be configured on web

Using Quote Options with Templates

If you save a quote with options as a template:

  • Section behaviour (Fixed, Optional, Multiple Choice) is retained

  • The configuration is restored when applied to a new quote

Section behaviour can be adjusted after applying the template to a quote

Things to Know

  • Quote totals in dashboards and reports reflect the default selection state

  • Once accepted, a final fixed-scope version of the quote is generated

  • Quote PDFs display the selectable option view
